Welcome to the PS 340 Parent Teachers Association website!
PS 340 is truly a remarkable place. Each child is made to feel welcome, heard, and at home. We have extraordinary teachers and staff, a passionate and gifted principal, and exceptionally dedicated and committed families.
The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) has a primary objective to foster community and a sense of belonging across our student body, school administrators and staff, and our broader parent and caregivers. We do this by organizing numerous events for our kids, including movie nights, Fall Fest, skating at Chelsea Piers, and our book fairs. We also organize several charitable events such as clothing drives with Room to Grow and food drives with City Harvest as well as class pictures.
The PTA also fundraises for many programs at the school as well to augment the school’s operations where the NYC Department of Education doesn’t provide the necessary funds. Examples of the wonderful enrichment programs that we have been able to fund for our children include Take Two film production classes, Studio in the School art program and the National Dance Institute workshop. We also fund various workshops for both children and adults such as navigating the cyber world.
Every parent/guardian and teacher of a PS 340 student is automatically a member of the PTA. The PTA has a monthly general membership meeting where all parents and guardians are invited to hear about our progams and hear about the latest school happenings from our principal and parent coordinator.

PS 340 Ambassadors
In 2021, we started the PS 340 Ambassadors initiative, a group of parents who welcome prospective and new families to our school and community. The PS 340 Ambassadors act as parent resources for prospective and new families at school open houses, orientations, and can provide general information about the school community.
